What’s New in Nintex Workflow for Office 365?

One of the many advantages to having two apps in the SharePoint store is that Nintex can keep updating them with fantastic new features without having to disturb all those people out there using them with annoying product update tasks.

The downside is they need to find a way to let you know about these new features.

With a new year and a new update for Nintex Workflow for Office 365, I wanted to tell you about two things:

  1. What’s new in this month’s update
  2. How to find out what’s new in future updates

There are some great new features released this month. These include:

  • The ability to import and export workflows

This will give you the chance to move your workflows about in your tenancy and across tenancy really easily – handy if you’ve created a workflow somewhere else for testing ahead of the big reveal!

  • The way you interact with variables has been improved to speed up workflow creation

You can now create variables from the right hand panel (a new UI experience specifically designed for the O365 products) or direct from a variable configured field

As an example, on a field that requires an integer type variable, simply click on the drop down box and select ‘Create New Variable’ at which point the focus will change to the right hand panel where you can supply the name. The really nice thing here is that the variable will be created with the correct data type for that field. No more data mismatches if you follow these easy steps!

  • There are three new context tokens available to make assigning tasks and other user focused activities easier and quicker to configure

Initiator login name, initiator display name and initiator email address are now available from the context menu. Simple!

The second thing I wanted to tell you about was the last of this month’s update items.

For those people using Nintex Workflow for Office 365 as registered customers (so not those currently using a trial), you will now see a ‘What’s New’ screen on entering the designer every time we make improvements or release new features!

This screen can also be seen at any point by going to ‘Help’ > ‘What’s New’.

Great news for you guys. Bad news for me…

I’m off to shut my blog down. Thanks for reading…
